In a tense atmosphere the Law on the Use of Languages was passed

-

In a tense atmosphere at Parliament, with 64 votes “for” and with none “against”, the Law on the Use of Languages was passed without a debate on the 36,000 amendments submitted by the opposition VMRO-DPMNE.

VMRO-DPMNE MPs protested again and were led by their former leader Nikola Gruevski who again approached the chair of the Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi and said “Do not force it” and “I will not do anything to you, but it is not good for you to force it “.

Currently, representatives of the government and the opposition are still present in the hall.

Previously, a smaller physical altercation between Gruevski and Xhaferi was prevented. Before the 15-minute break, the former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski stood directly in front of Xhaferi, hit the table with his hand, hit the bell, covered his microphone and as a final provocation, emptied the contents of his water glass before finally climbing up behind him switching off his microphone.

While Xhaferi came out of the hall, Gruevski approached him, but the Parliamentary security prevented a more serious altercation.

These latest developments in Parliament confirm that it was Nikola Gruevskui who was behind the attempts to block the work of Parliament, the reform process and Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic perspective, said SDSM in a statement.

They went on to say that “it is a confirmation that Hristijan Mickoski is just a uppet of the suspect Gruevski and that he does not have the capacity to reform VMRO-DPMNE”.
