The number of marriages in 2015, compared to 2014 increased by 2.7% and amounted to 14 186, and last year the number of divorces have slightly decreased, according to an analysis of the State Statistical Office.
Most marriages, 1.844 or 13%, took place in August, and the least – 702 or 4.9% took place in March.
Most of the marriages were first time marriages, 92.6% who were women and 91.2% men. 8.1% were second time marriages, and 0.7% were third time marriages, often more common for men.
The average age for a first time marriage is 26.2 for the bride, and 29 years for the groom.
The number of divorces in 2015 decreased by 0.5% compared to 2014 and amounted to 2,200.
The least marriages, 74 or 3.4% over the year divorced in August, and the most, 205 or 10.5% took place in December.
According to the duration of the marriage, most divorces – 498 occurred five to nine years after the marriage.
