Ilievski, Gaber-Damjanovska and Jankulovski – Macedonia’s Candidates for Election as ECHR Judge

Public Prosecutor Jovan Ilievski, Constitutional Judge Natasha Gaber-Damjanovska and the Macedonian Ambassador to the Vatican, Zvonimir Jankulovski are the three candidates from Macedonia, being considered for the position of becoming a Judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) based in Strasbourg, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced.

The MFA stated that the three people on the short list was submitted by the Permanent Mission of Macedonia in Strasbourg to the Secretariat of the Council of Europe.

” The list is a result of a competitive national selection process conducted by the Commission for the selection of judges at the ECHR, and follows an advisory decision by the Government in accordance with the procedure for the appointment of judges in the ECHR. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will interview each of the three candidates on September 30, 2016 at the Paris regional office, after which a vote will be taken regarding the selection of one the judges from Macedonia”, the MFA statement said.
