The Ministry of Transport and Communications reports that the highway Miladinovci – Stip will been open for use in both directions. Due to the fact that certain infrastructure facilities are yet to be completed along the highway, the Ministry urges all drivers to observe the installed horizontal and vertical signalization.
“We are grateful to all citizens who were patient these past several moths in regards to using this highway section. We are grateful to all the construction companies that were directly or indirectly involved in the construction of this important capital facility”, is said in the statement from the ministry.
Citizens in the upcoming months will have the opportunity to travel freely on this 47-km highway. The two pay-tolls on the highway have yet to be built, for which a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will be raised. The maximum speed on the highway Miladinovci – Stip is 130 kilometers per hour, and its commissioning will shorten the journey time between Skopje and Stip to 45 minutes.
The constriction of this highway began on February 2014, after the former government promised it will be completed no later than May 1, 2017. However, by this period, less than 60% of the overall work was completed, making the present government sign an additional annex agreement with Chinese company “Sinohydro” for extending the deadline putting the highway in use.
