High Court of Appeals rules: Taleski to remain under House Arrest

The Court of Appeals has come to a decision on the Mayor of Bitola, Vladimir Taleski, the prime suspect in the “Transporter” case which is being headed by the Special public prosecutor’s office. They have ruled that Taleski remain under House Arrest, said the Basic Court Skopje 1.

“The High Court of Appeals in Skopje to the Basic Court Skopje 1 – Skopje handed down the ruling for suspect V.T, who is is the prime in the case which has come to be known as the “Transporter” case, which was confirmed by the Criminal Council from the Basic Court Skopje 1 – Skopje, the ruling on the measure for house arrest will remain in place”, the statement from the court wrote.

Taleski’s legal team. lawyers Nikola Dodovoski and Boro Tacevski,  and the prosecutor from the Special Prosecution Trajche Pelivanov, on Monday will all be at a public session at the Criminal Council at the High Court of Appeal’s to put forward their arguments, for and against the measure of House Arrest on Bitola’s Mayor.

The prosecutor from the Special Prosecution’s Office (SPO), Trajche Pelivanov stated that the Criminal Council of the Basic Court Skopje 1 had given a fair and correct ruling when they decided to put Taleski under House Arrest, and they had the right to do it on all grounds.

He pointed out that the defences appeal had no grounds, and there was probable cause for custody as well, because the investigative procedure is still ongoing and some people have not been questioned, like the Mayor himself.

Mayor Taleski and another 22 suspects are accused of abuse and embezzlement of the schools transport system in Bitola, making a hefty 360.000 euros.
