“Macedonia got its recommendation to start negotiations to join the European Union, however, it comes with two conditions. Firstly, to implement fully the Przhino Agreement and, secondly, to implement the mandatory reforms, ” said EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn. at the presentation of the report on Macedonia.
“Macedonia has a good legislative-legal system. However, the political system is undermined because of corruption. That is why it came to this, the Przhino Agreement, to resolve this political crisis. The contents of the intercepted materials that were made public, just shows how undermined the political system is by corruption. The Political leaders have to be aware of what reforms are a priority.
“It is important to complete the reforms from the Ohrid Agreement. Inter-ethnic relations remain delicate and the Ohrid Agreement must be analysed. A confidence boost is needed between the inter-national relations. The Commission gives Macedonia its recommendation, but on the condition that the Przhino Agreement is implemented and the fulfilment of the urgent reforms. This matter will re-opened after the elections in April 2016” stated Commissioner Hahn.
