Recent developments in Macedonia led Commissioner Johannes Hahn to again schedule a trip to Skopje in the first half of next week, stated his spokeswoman Maja Kocijanik for META. It is unclear whether his visit will coincide with that of Victoria Nuland, but the US and the EU will coordinate.
Kocijanchik also stated that discussions between political leaders are in a critical point. EU expects them all to behave responsibly and constructively and to work urgently with confidence to settle the unresolved issue.
For the European Commission, Macedonia is in a difficult situation and we cannot waste time.
“We remind that the four leaders signed an agreement on 2nd of June and confirmed it on 19th of June. This agreement is the basis for a final compromise,” says Kocijanchik for META.
“The compromise is an essential element of democracy. Political energy must focus not on partisan issues, but the reform as stated in the Commission’s recommendations, “concludes Hahn’s spokeswoman.
