Haindl in Skopje on Wednsday, Nuland’s visit still not confirmed

-

The special German envoy who has been sent to Macedonia especially to help resolve the political crisis, the German Ambassador to Austria, Johannes Haindl will be visiting Skopje on Wednesday, confirmed the German Embassy in Skopje for “Meta”.

For now, details on Haindl’s visit are being kept quiet. The media has speculated that the Assistant Secretary of State from the US State Department, Victoria Nuland will also be visiting Macedonia, however, the precise date of her visit is still unknown. There are two times she could come, the 6th of July which coincides with Haindl’s visit or the 10th of July, which would be after the NATO summit in Warsaw.

It is not known whether Haindl will try together with Nuland to unblock the political crisis, or whether Haindl will only pave the way for US diplomat Victoria Nuland.

The EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn in Brussels yesterday repeated to the leader of the VMRO-DPMNE Nikola Gruevski, that Macedonia’s political leaders have already lost too much time and that it is more than urgent to return to the negotiating table and implement the Pržino Agreement.

“We need to create conditions for credible elections, to develop the rule of law, all parties must support the work of the Special Public Prosecutor, and to implement priority reforms,” said EU spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic for “Meta” after the meeting between Commissioner Hahn and Nikola Gruevski.
