The European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, will be travelling to Skopje for a meeting with Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, government officials, as well as leaders from political parties. The main focus will be on the implementation of the reforms priorities and the Przino Agreement.

The European Commission stated that the EU Commissioner would discuss with the new government the action plan for the implementation of the reform priorities, necessary for Macedonia’s return to the Euro-Atlantic path. European expert Reinhard Priebe, who noted in his report the problematic areas in which reforms need to be implemented, is scheduled to attend meetings with government officials. He and a group of European experts, as Hahn recently stated, will need to assist the new government in implementing the reform priorities.

On the eve of the visit, Hahn said that both the Government and the opposition should focus on the implementation of the urgent priotiry reforms and the Przino Agreement.

“The country, with continued assistance from the European Union, has finally overcome the political crisis through well-conducted elections and the formation of a new government. Now the new government, along with the opposition, need to focus on implementing the reform priorities and the Przino Agreement to return the country on its path to EU integration. Reforms must be implemented to improve people’s lives, we need to work on stability, progress and justice. That’s why I gave an assignment to a group of independent legal experts, led by Reinhard Priebe, to help and advise the new government on issues of systematic rule of law”, wrote Hahn on Friday.
