Representatives from the “Colourful Revolution” took guerrilla-style action in front of the US Ambassador’s residence today in Skopje, where talks are currently being held between political parties, who are signatories to the Pržino Agreement. On the street in front of the house where the US Ambassador Jess Baily resides, demonstrators in black spray paint wrote, “The people will resolve this crisis!”
Civil organizations, meanwhile, are still asking that their representatives be involved in the negotiations.
“Negotiations are taking place without the participation of the people, who do not know what is going on behind closed doors. We want to be present, we do not want to make decisions, but just to be there so as to inform the people, also, to monitor the process and offer alternative solutions. Politics does not belong exclusively to the political parties, it also belongs to the people” said Petrit Saracini, a well-known civil activist.
NGO representatives sent a message that if parties decide something that is harmful to the people, they will become more radical in their actions, but that doesn’t necessarily mean violent.
“Political parties must understand that if they decide something that we do not like, we will come out in larger numbers and become more radical. Citizens took to the streets in massive protests because the parties refused to listen”, says Professor Mirjana Najchevska.
