Gruevski wished him success, Tsipras reiterated the red lines!

-

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski had a short telephone conversation with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. This was confirmed for “MIA” by the press service of the Government. The conversation for META was confirmed by the office of Tsipras as well.

In the protocol conversation, Prime Minister Gruevski wished his colleague success in his work and in coping with the challenges his country is facing.

Gruevski emphasized that the two countries should make efforts to promote good neighborly relations, resolve outstanding issues, build constructive atmosphere in the two countries and cooperate in all fields of mutual interest.

The office of Greek Prime Minister said for META that Tsipras reiterated and emphasized the strong Greek positions on the name dispute in the conversation with Gruevski.

Tsipras underlined the importance of resolving the name dispute for regional stability and European perspective for our country, adding that Greece continues to support our effort to integrate into the European family. As the Tsipras’ office informed, they also discussed the possibilities for improving and building trust and strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

As a reminder, on Sunday, during the presentation of the government’s program, Tsipras announced that the new government stands behind the famous Greek red lines for the name, i.e. requesting new name to be complex, with geographic determinant for general use. His coalition partner Panos Kamenos again publicly stated that he does not agree with these positions and will not accept a name that contains the term Macedonia.
