-

Macedonia is an important partner of NATO and we support the path to membership in NATO, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a press conference after meeting with Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.

– Thank you for your work in Afghanistan. NATO integration requires tough reforms and courageous leadership. I praise your country for reforms in which we can see challenges as well. We are following the developments with concern and insist on freedom of speech and the functioning of democratic institutions. We call on all political forces to engage in political and economic reforms in the country. This is in the interest of all citizens – said Stoltenberg.

Gruevski said that Macedonia’s membership in NATO is in the interest of the country.

– We support the open door policy of NATO. We exchanged views on the progress of Macedonia in NATO. We also jointly reviewed topics related to reforms regarding NATO membership. I talked about reforms in defense, justice, economy and other fields. Certainly that we spoke about current issues and I gave the assurance that everything will be conducted transparently and in accordance with the law – said Gruevski.

Asked whether the foreign service is discovered and whether Gruevski conveyed it to the first man of NATO, Prime Minister answered that he described the condition in detail, for everything that was presented by the head of the opposition and all materials presented to him by the police.
