Government relented, state exam is postponed, students are making decisions

State exam for students will be postponed for a year, while the other amendments to the Law on Higher Education to be postponed for two years.

This was confirmed for META by “Student plenum” after the meeting with Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.

– At today’s meeting, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski accepted our demands for a moratorium on amendments to the Law on Higher Education. We agreed to set up working groups with all concerned parties as soon as possible in order to work on preparing a new law on higher education or on changing the existing – says Hristijan Davidovik, one of the representatives of “Student plenum” at the meeting in the office of Prime Minister.

The official Twitter account of “Student plenum” reads: “Today nothing was agreed, but the Prime Minister came out with an offer. All students will decide together if they should accept it”

Apart from the two representatives of “Student plenum”, Professor Gordana Siljanovska- Davkova, Minister of Education Abdilakim Ademi, Deputy Minister Spiro Ristovski, rector of UKIM Velimir Stojkovski, the two vice-rectors, deans of the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economy and several university senators also attended the meeting.
