Gruevski announces “High School Wednesdays” and free public transport for students

From the 1st of January starting from next year, free transport will be introduced on public transport for all students at all state universities in the country. This was announced by Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski while he addressed the Ceremony on the occasion of St. Kliment Ohridski.

“Starting from January 2016, we want encouraging for higher student standards, all students at state universities will be provided with free transport on public transport or public bus transport in Skopje and other cities where there are organized public bus services. All students from state universities can use public transport freely every day of the week, on all lines. This measure is to provide all students from state universities will be allocated cards from JSP Skopje and other public enterprises in cities where there is a public bus service to be able to use the free service of public transport companies. To implement this measure, the government will pay transfers of funds to the respective local government units”, said Prime Minister Gruevski.

In addition to students, the Prime Minister announced incentives for students who start with a “high school environment” of January will be able to visit the state theatres, museums and cinemas, and will be able to ride the Vodno Ferris wheel.

“Following the success story of the “Free Thursday” which was for students, now through this new project, called “High School Wednesdays” we will strive to raise the mobility, quality entertainment and attendance at cultural institutions such as theatres, museums and cinemas for high school students.
