The leader of the VMRO-DPMNE, Nikola Gruevski today announced that the City of Skopje will purchase electric buses, which will achieve the same effect as a tram, and will also look like trams.
Gruevski in his speech at the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle for Statehood and Independence, where he announced new measures in the field of automotive and environmental protection, said that the City of Skopje will be purchasing 30 minibuses and 20 large buses that travel on the line that was scheduled for a tram line.
“The purchase of 20 joint two-piece electric buses designed to resemble a tram will not only achieve the same environmental effect, but will contain the same number of cabins with the same number of passengers in them, and the same speed possible in the reserved lanes, just like the tram, comfort etc. However, the key difference here is we will avoid construction work across the whole city in the next few years and the implementation will be faster and most importantly the price for everything is good, the cost will only around 12 million euros, that’s the estimated value, which will be paid in several annual installments”, said Gruevski.
