Greek leadership meeting ended with a joint declaration for support of Tsipras

-

Marathon meeting between the Greek Prime Minister and the leaders of the Greek political parties led to a joint declaration which gives support to the Greek government to submit a new proposal to its creditors.

The declaration is expected to be shortly announced by Prime Minister’s office, along with the name of the new Finance Minister.

The full text is signed by the Greek government, SYRIZA, New Democracy, PASOK, Independent Greeks and River, and the only party that does not support it is the Communist Party.

Coalition partner of Alexis Tsipras and Independent Greeks leader Panos Kamenos said the deal gives new strength to the Greek Prime Minister to go to Brussels tomorrow to negotiate on behalf of the whole nation and the majority Greek parties.

– It only remains Europe to understand that the solution that is the wish of the people and the majority of the parties should be allowed immediately to Greece to follow the path of development and prosperity. The agreement with the creditors is the only possible way – said Kamenos after the meeting.

Kamenos announced that there will be measures aimed at restoring liquidity, economic development, reform and sustainability of the debt.

River leader Stavros Theodorakis noted that rough times and tough decisions will follow and the people and political parties will have to be united. Theodorakis noted that the declaration gives the responsibility of the government to negotiate to have an agreement on a social program that will lead to economic development.

– The situation is critical, there are many negative messages and we should deny all those who think that the EU cannot exist without Greece. We should make an effort together to deal with the critical moments and to have a positive development in the coming hours – added Theodorakis.

Leaders of PASOK and New Democracy, Fofi Genimata and Evangelos Meimarakis, criticized the government that it launched the initiative for a national consensus too late, putting the state and people in critical condition of closed banks, without liquidity, without a program and protection. Noting that the full responsibility for the decision is on the shoulders of the government, both, however, expressed a consensus that will help and support sustainable solution. Theodorakis and Genimata, as well as Meimarakis, said that the government must not forget that the people didn’t give it strength to strife and destruction at the referendum, but an order for consensus and a solution that will keep Greece in the EU and the Eurozone.

In anticipation of the full text of the agreement, the information is that it was discussed about the proposal of Jean-Claude Juncker with five amendments and proposals from the Greek side of these European ideas. It is estimated that it is agreed that all of the following proposals will be consulted with all parties.

Despite the support, opposition parties made clear that responsibility for the agreement is entirely in the hands of the government.
