Through the Program for the support of print media, the Government of North Macedonia has provided financial aid for some of the media outlets.

“The financial aid has been approved to those print media outlets that have met all of the obligations towards the state and the employees for 2019. In accordance with the 2020 state budget, the print media in the Macedonian language were paid assets in the amount of 36.8% for the printing costs and 36 % of the distribution costs, and the printed media that are published in languages of the ethnic minorities will receive up to 50.8% of the printing costs and 50.8% of the distribution costs. The Commission has decided unanimously that the remaining assets of the total budget be allocated to regional media, such as Zenit, Bitolski Vesnik, and Štipski glas, with 15.833 MKD for each outlet, states the press release.

Out of 14 requests, 11 were approved. To these 11 media companies, 29.999.999 MKD (488.000 EUR) were granted out of a total of 30 million MKD planned in the budget for 2020 as a support for print media,” states the press release.

The amount of the approved support is based upon submitted invoices for 2019 and is defined by a contract signed between the General Secretariat and the selected beneficiaries on basis of Evidence for evaluation and Report for approved requests.
