Government of North Macedonia adopts Economic Reform Programme 2021-2023

The Government of North Macedonia adopted a three-year strategy – the Economic Reform Programme (ERP) 2021-2023 that consists of a mid-term macroeconomic and fiscal framework, as well as the guidelines for the structural reforms that should be implemented and which were determined through a dialogue with the European Commission.

The Economic Reform Programme 2021-2023, written under the coordination of the Ministry of Finance, encompasses 20 priority measures (reform areas) that will have to be implemented in the next three years, that is, reform of the energy market and the transportation, development of the agricultural sector, the improvement of the business climate and decreasing the grey economy, support for research, development and digital transformation, regional economic connections, education and skills, social protection and inclusion, including health care.

The Ministry of Finance of North Macedonia that ERP 2021-2023 will be submitted to the European Commission towards the end of January 2021.

After its submission, it will be evaluated by the EC. In the end, a dialogue will be implemented within the EU’s Council with the finance ministers and central bank governors of the countries candidates from the Western Balkans and Turkey.
