“Transitional governments or hybrid regimes” is the group in which Macedonia remains in the last report of “Freedom House” entitled “Countries in Transition”.
Macedonia was downgraded to this level in the last report of “Freedom House”. The latest reads that Macedonia continues to show a decline, especially in the categories: electoral process and civil society. Of the seven countries in the Balkans, four declined, mainly due to the situation in the media and the judiciary. Besides Macedonia, among them are Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro. Government reforms and steps to combat corruption brought progress to Albania.
