Free public transport from today – in JSP buses and in private carriers. These are just some of the measures taken by the City of Skopje to deal with the enormous air pollution in recent weeks, announced today Mayor Trajanovski at a press conference. They will include washing the streets, control on construction sites and vehicles leaving construction sites, and a public appeal to people to go to work or university by bus, instead of cars.
These measures and recommendations will apply until the pollution is below alarming levels.
The City of Skopje will perform intensive cleansing of the streets.
The Mayor of Skopje announced that if the weather conditions are favorable, they will continue spraying the streets with calcium acetate, a compound believed to bind portions of the harmful particles in the air.
