Five members of the State Election Commission (SEC) sent an official letter to Parliament Speaker Trajko Veljanoski, where they clearly state that for the elections on June 5, there is only one candidate.
According to SEC members Violeta Duma and Igor Milev from the SDSM, Subhu Jakupi from DUI, Chairman and Vice Chairman, Aleksandar Chicakovski and Redzep Prekopuca, if elections are conducted under the current conditions, they would be illegitimate and not credible.
The letter states that the principle of balanced media reporting is threatened, the sovereignty of citizens is conveyed to only one party, and this raises the question of the purpose and the cost of conducting elections, given the certainty of the results since only one party is in campaigning.
