An expert team from the European Union have begun to assess the damage caused by the freak storm which hit Skopje and the surrounding area on Saturday evening, stated the EU Ambassador to Macedonia, Aivo Orav.
The experts were sent to the country after Macedonia enacted the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.

Despite assessing the damage, the team also has to make recommendations to the authorities for civil protection at national and local levels for the sanitation of the consequences from the storm.
The Directorate for Protection and Rescue stated today that after receiving the final list of needs by the competent institutions they will then submit a further request to the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
