The European Union appeals for dialogue in Montenegro

The EU Delegation in Montenegro, expressed concern over clashes between police and demonstrators during protests in Podgorica and appealed for political dialogue to be restored.

“We expect that the responsible authorities will investigate all incidents effectively and in accordance with the principles of the rule of law. While demonstrations represent a legitimate and legal way to express political and other opinions, they should be peaceful and in accordance with the law”, said the EU statement.

The EU delegation appealed to all political parties, to re-engage in constructive dialogue in the Parliament of Montenegro.

Last night in Podgorica riots developed from protests organized by the opposition, the Democratic Front,near the Parliament of Montenegro, as protesters tried to storm the Parliament building, they clashed with police.
