This morning at around 7:15 am, two miners were brought in Shtip Clinical Hospital with injuries from an explosion that occurred while they were working in the mine Dobrevo in Probishtip.
Shtip police confirmed that there was an explosion from currently unknown causes. 42-year-old miner with initials D.Z. and 49-year-old ZT, both of Probishtip, were injured in the explosion. The injuries of D.Z. are more severe because the blast hit him in the face. The other miner has minor injuries. Representatives from Clinical Hospital said that the miner with severe injuries was examined by a general surgeon and a facial surgeon, as well as an eye doctor, and it was determined that surgery is needed.
The second miner will be released from the hospital on his own request.
Police announced that an investigation from mining inspector and the public prosecutor is expected.
