The leaders of the four largest political parties, signatories to the Pržino Agreement tonight finally agreed that on December 11, early parliamentary elections will be held. The four leaders are satisfied that all the conditions were met for fair and democratic elections. Also satisfied with the agreement were the two representatives from the international community, the US Ambassador to Macedonia, Jess Baily and the representative from the European Union, Lukas Holub.
Nikola Gruevski, Zoran Zaev, Ali Ahmeti and Menduh Thaci all signed the joint statement which declares the date of the elections, as well as the agreement for the chief editor of the public broadcasting service MTV, the fifth member of the ad hoc body for monitoring the media during the elections campaign period and the methodology of the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services.
Under this agreement, the government who will organize the elections will be chosen on September 2 which is Friday this week, and on the same day the new chief editor for the news desk at MTV, Santa Argirova will be required to start work, and it was also decided that the fifth member of the ad hob body for monitoring the election campaign period will be a journalist, Ljuljzim Haziri.
In the joint statement, the leaders of the parties also stated that they are “committed to a democratic and fair election campaign, free of violence and intimidation, and they condemn the use of bad language or any other action that may result in violence or intimidation”.
