Twenty terrorist cells preparing attacks in Europe

-

About 180 people from at least 20 terrorist cells that are yet to be activated, are ready to carry out terrorist attacks in France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, reports US television network CNN, citing Western intelligence sources.

Intelligence agencies of the EU and the secret services in the Middle East found that there is “imminent danger” for an attack in Belgium, as well as in the Netherlands. The warning comes after last week’s terrorist attacks in Paris, in which 17 people were killed, and after last night’s counter-terrorist raid in Belgium, in which two suspected terrorists were killed, one person was wounded and 13 were arrested. Belgian media today reported that the raid was carried out a few hours before the planned attacks in Belgium.

Last week, European security services had indications that the extremist group Islamic State is ordering its members from Europe to initiate attacks in their countries, reports CNN.

Security services report that several European countries are investigating returnees from Syria and Iraq, who, allegedly, are plotting terrorist attacks.

In the past 24 hours, France, Germany and Belgium conducted several counterterrorist actions in several cities and arrested 25 terrorists and supporters of terrorist organizations linked to extremist jihadist organizations. The goal of the actions is to destroy terrorist cells, as well as the logistics network.
