DUI: Tensions in Kriva Palanka are unnecessary

-

Freedom of religion and expression of religion without any pressure, presents civilized accomplishment, which is an integral part of almost all international conventions relating to human rights, was the DUI’s reaction to protests against the announcement of building a mosque in Kriva Palanka.
“DUI believes tensions in Kriva Palanka are unnecessary, particularly when they are motivated to cause religious intolerance in that environment. Opposing the construction of a religious building for the Muslim community should not happen in an environment where religious diversity is considered a treasure, not a handicap, in the relations between people with different identities”, said a statement from the party.

DUI say such events do not do Macedonia any favours on its path towards European integration processes, and urge all misunderstandings of religious and ethnic character to be resolved through institutions and through dialogue among citizens.
