Democratic Union for Integration informed that it concernedly follows the latest developments on the occasion of the charge of attempting to overthrow the state system and espionage by four people, including opposition leader Zoran Zaev.
“The Democratic Union for Integration continually emphasizes the urgent need for increasing the integrity and independence of the judiciary and prosecution, as well as transparent and fair trials, especially those with ethnic, religious and political character.
State institutions, including the judiciary and prosecution, should approach the case with full transparency, integrity and respect for the presumption of innocence of the accused.
Also, we feel that these standards should be applied in the daily work of state institutions, especially those that affect interethnic relations.
In this very important year for our country, DUI calls on all political parties and other social parties to demonstrate full responsibility towards democracy, interethnic relations and to the integration process, and, given the vulnerability of the democratic process in the country, we also believe that international community should be involved, with attention to building sustainable democratic standards in the country,” reads the statement of DUI.
