The Council of Foreign Affairs of the European Union postponed their discussion on the situation in Macedonia for June the 20th, because ministers from Germany and Britain who initiated the discussion were not present at the end of the session.
Britain and Germany had previously asked this matter to be under the topic “Miscellaneous” at today’s meeting of foreign ministers from member states of the EU.
Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders told news portal “Nova” that the way out of the political crisis in Macedonia lies in the fulfillment of all conditions.
“All parties have to agree and find a way out of the crisis. I believe a date for elections is needed, terms of freedom of expression and all trials need to be conducted according to national and international standards. Neither I or Europe are the ones who should decide and resolve this situation. It is a decision the Macedonian citizens must make, and to say whether they want free and fair elections and to contribute to the integration into Euro-Atlantic structures”, Koenders said.
