Custody for Grujovski, Jakimovski and Boshkovski – while Mijalkov’s passport has been confiscated

The Skopje Appellate Court upheld the appeal of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for some of the defendants in the “Target” and the “Fortress” cases and ordered the former Head of the Administration of Security and Counter-Intelligence (UBK), Goran Grujovski, the former Chief of Staff of Sasho Mijalkov’s cabinet at UBK, Toni Jakimovski and Nikola Boshkovski, an employee at UBK, be remanded into pre-trial custody.

The former Director of UBK, Sasho Mijalkov will have his passport confiscated and is obliged to report to court once a week after the Skopje Appellate Court rejected the SPO’s appeals and has confirmed the rulings of the court with a primary jurisdiction.

“After the sessions held on the 17.07.2017, the Skopje Appellate Court ruled in the cases known to the public as “Target” and the “Fortress”, approved three appeals from the Public Prosecutor’s Office  for prosecuting related crimes and crimes which arose from the content of the illegal interception of communications by reinstating the initial decisions for the accused G.G., N.B. and T.J.  In order to ensure the presence of the defendants in the criminal proceedings, he ordered pre-trial custody, while the remaining defendants preliminary verdicts were confirmed, and the appeals from the defendants and the prosecution were rejected as unfounded”, announced the Skopje Appellate Court in a statement.
