Directors of HIF Maja Parnadzhieva-Zmejkova and Xhemaili Mehazi today resigned from their functions – one before and the other after the protest for Tamara.
Both are elected state officials, which means that they are appointed and dismissed by the Government. Therefore, the Government should decide whether to accept the resignations at a session.
Judging by banners citizens were carrying on both protests for Tamara, held in Skopje, resignations are expected from 11 people, headed by Minister Nikola Todorov and Director of the Pediatric Clinic Aspazija Sofijanova.
Today’s banner with the names of people that citizens demand to resign because of their involvement in the case in which nine-year girl died, adorn the names of the Minister of Health Nikola Todorov, Directors of HIF Maja Parnadzhieva-Zmejkova and Xhemaili Mehazi, Aspazija Sofijanova ( director of the Pediatric Clinic), Anastasika Popska (orthopedic specialist), Vladimir Popovski (President of the Dental Association), Angel Mitevski (representative of the Ministry of Health), Elizabeta Srbinovska-Kostovska (representative of the Economic Chamber of Macedonia), Goran Koevski ( representative of insurers and associate professor at the Faculty of Law), Elena Trpkovska (representative of the Ministry of Finance), Ljubisha Karanfilovski (Doctor of Dental Clinic, a member of the Council of Independent Trade Union of Health, Pharmacy and Social Protection of the Republic of Macedonia), Josif Trajkovski (representative of Dental Association), Ilija Gligorov (representative of associations of pensioners of Macedonia).
The organizer of the protest for Tamara Ognen Janevski said that these resignations are not enough and that they will continue with the activity until Minister Nikola Todorov resigns.
He says that they are not organized by an association, but that is a group of citizens organized through social networks.
At the press conference where she announced her resignation, now former director of the HIF Parandzhieva-Zmejkova called her colleagues soulless bureaucrats.
– I am a human being brought up to help others, not a heartless bureaucrat. Today I announced that I decided to retire from the post of director of the Fund out of human reasons – said Parnadzhieva-Zmejkova.
