Is the agreement on early elections canceled?

Political parties to come up with concrete proposals, reads part of the statement of the European Commission at a meeting of EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn with the leaders of political parties.

They say they are ready to facilitate talks, but that politicians must take responsibility and make a compromise.

This is the only statement about yesterday’s meeting which indicates that the negotiations will continue and that, despite disagreements leaders of political parties, elections will be held by the end of April next year.

No one declares nor announces whether the date for deadline for early elections stands, or whether the agreement for elections in still on.

In a statement for the press, SDSM leader Zoran Zaev said he would give a chance the talks to continue, while Nikola Gruevski said Zaev does not want an agreement or elections, just to cause economic damage to Macedonia.

The elections were arranged at an eight-hour meeting which the leaders held at the residence of the European Union in Skopje on 2nd of June. Then, EU Commissioner Hahn said that only remains to agree transition period.

SDSM announced today that Gruevski was willing to give up everything, except the chair, and since 2nd of June until now, Zaev several times repeated that he would not agree to elections if they are organized by a transitional government led by Nikola Gruevski.

Although several sources said that the leaders even signed a document at meeting in Przhino, it was never published.
