Criminal charges have been filed against a policeman who had offered a bribe to Katica Janeva’s witness

The Public Prosecution for organized crime and corruption has filed charges against an employee of the Interior Ministry who is suspected for offering a bribe for a person to appear as a witness before the court and to give a statement, announced the Public Prosecution.

He, according to the Prosecution, is charged with the crime of illegally influencing witnesses.

The criminal charges against the officer, submitted by the Ministry of Interior, is one of seven applications filed recently, three of which are against prosecutors from the Special Public Prosecutor’s Office.

“After criminal charges were filed by the Ministry of Interior against a person employed in the Ministry of Interior, has been charged with the crime of illegally influencing witnesses, the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Corruption has taken all necessary actions to determine the facts of the case. It now believed that there is a reasonable suspicion that the suspect committed the crime he is accused of, and that was offering a bribe to a person, to appear as a witness in court proceedings and to make a statement, for the case to go in a certain direction, ” said the Prosecution’s statement.

The indictment was submitted today to the Basic Court Skopje 1.

“Today the competent prosecutor, after completion of the procedure and the full clarification of the event to the competent Basic Court Skopje 1 filed an indictment against a defendant for the criminal offence of illegally influencing on witnesses of Article 368-a paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code,” said the Prosecutor’s Office.
