The reduced frequency of citizens’ movement and the introduction of curfew because of the coronavirus epidemic, according to the data provided by Public enterprise “Parking lots at the municipality Center” (POC), has led to a decrease of the parking volumes in the center of Skopje in March this year by 50% compared to the parking volumes in the previous period.
At the open-type parking lots there had been around 65.000 vehicles monthly, while in March 2020 the number dropped to 29.657 vehicles. At the closed-type parking lots, including the multi-storey parking garage “Judicial Palace” there were 30.000 parked cars monthly before the Covid-19 pandemics, while during March there were 11.204 vehicles, the enterprise cites to Meta.mk.
“The real losses that the enterprise is suffering are significantly greater since in 2019 the fees for parking services were lowered compared to this year” said the enterprise.
In March this year, this public enterprise has had revenue of around 124.000 EUR while during the same month the previous year, its revenue was 160.000 EUR.
The coronavirus crisis will delay the start of the project for introducing a net system for automatic collection by installing cameras for automatic recognition of licence plates, sensors and mobile ANPR cameras.
