The introduction of electronic toll collection on the Corridor 8 and the construction of two toll stations on the Skopje-Shtip Motorway in North Macedonia is going to start this year. The tender for this two projects is in the ammount of €13.7 million and the evaluation of the first phase of the tendering procedure is underway, the Public Enterprise for State Roads explains for Meta.mk.
“The two phases of the procedure are expected to finish at the end of June. Then the signing of the contract with the best bidder will happen. After the contract is signed, the construction of the toll stations on the Shtip-Skopje Motorway should begin,”, PE for State Roads informs.
There are two toll stations planned – “Kadrifakovo” and “Preod”. At the very start they will allow electronic road toll payment with M-smart cards and M-tags.
The tender also includes instalation of electronic toll collection equipment at the Miladinovci, Glumovo, Zhelino, Tetovo and Gostivar toll stations, all on the Corridor 8. That will allow electronic road toll payments at all toll stations in North Macedonia.
