City of Skopje will remove the first ship placed on the bank of river Vardar

-

The City of Skopje will start with the removal of one of the three ships placed on the bank of river Vardar, announced Skopje’s Mayor Petre Shilegov at today’s press conference.

“In the past period the city of Skopje led serious legal procedures in order to create legal preconditions for the removal of the first ship. I hope all necessary conditions will be created for these objects to be removed without any financial implication upon the city and the state” stressed Shilegov who remained that the dislocation of the ship close to the Goce Delchev bridge is the city’s second action since the removal of the Kjose monument.

The owner of the urban equipment has the right to remove it himself in a period of 30 days. Otherwise, the City will do it on the owner’s expense i.e. after the 10th of April.

Shilegov informed that in accordance with the annex to the agreement that was signed by the user in 2016, he was allowed not to carry out any activities since there were no conditions for that. But the city notified him in 2018 that there are favorable conditions and that he was obliged to start working at the designated deadline. Since until the 6th of March he did act upon City’s requests, the following was decided by a Commission formed by the City.

“The City is backed by a guarantee and the whole process has no financial implications on us” said Shilegov.

The mayor said that he cannot give a precise answer what will happen with the object as soon as it is demolished as it a building with foundations in the river that cannot be lifted and removed to another location just like that without demolishing.
