-

Little men, Gypsies, water polo players, Shqiptars, Indians, yellow, pharaohs, Egyptians… Terms politicians use in audio recordings published by SDSM leader Zoran Zaev are a clear description of those who use them and give the impression of people filled with prejudice and intolerance towards the different, say experts.

Nikola Gruevski: yellow, idiots; Ali Baba; Is he a Muslim or Catholic?

Gordana Jankuloska: Little men; fools; Gypsies; crazy gang (lustration); donkeys; water polo players; Shqiptars; squid; fagot; idiocy; crazy woman; To grab Albanians by the neck, no one to go out; Regarding the Roma, we will bring them by their ears, nobody can say a word; For Artan Grubi: he is a filthy man; he probably has some organs of sheep inside so he enjoys it, filth; For Vladimir Peshevski: hypo, fat garbage, unprecedented idiot, very, very viciously man;

Zoran Stavreski: fool; garbage; bastard; For Vladimir Peshevski: hypo; brut; fat pig, piece of meat; bad, evil and rude;

Trajko Veljanovski: Indians, Macedonian Indians;

Ilija Dimovski: Shqiptars;

Martin Protogjer: The little man, Gypsies, Egyptians, pharaohs, crazy, cripple, vagabonds; asshole; For Artan Grubi: bastard;

Kiril Bozhinovski: Gypsies;

Simona Gruevska-Madzhoska, university professor at the Institute for Macedonian language, says that these terms are inappropriate for public functions of individuals who use them and give the impression that it a matter of people full of prejudice and intolerance towards the different.

– From audio recordings published by the opposition, quite inappropriate language for public functions that provide those figures whose voice we hear can be heard. Although the informal communication is marked by freer linguistic expression, however, due to the responsibility for the functions, these figures should hold a higher level of their own expression. It seems that the general public in the Republic of Macedonia is appalled by the low level of linguistic expression of the tapped people. They use a number of words and phrases in a pejorative meaning, which gives the impression that it is a matter of people full of prejudice and intolerance towards others and the different. In the world, as well as in the region, public officials resign for smaller issues that the things that we heard – says Professor Gruevska-Madzhoska.

That these are people who have prejudices to the different also agrees Petrit Sarachini, journalist and representative of the movement for youth activism “Bezomrazno”, according to whom, the speech used in the recordings is a clear display of the stigmatizing culture of politicians in power.

– What we hear in the recordings published by SDSM leader Zoran Zaev is a clear display of the culture of the politicians who rule this country. It is the culture of hate speech, which sees an enemy in everyone who thinks differently from those who govern. This is a culture of stigmatizing and dehumanizing anyone different. Public figures, especially politicians, should distance themselves from such speech and should serve as an example that all citizens are equal in rights and obligations. Unfortunately, for many years in our country, politicians cherish hate speech – said Sarachini.

Last year, the owner of the basketball team “Los Angeles Clippers” from NBA, Donald Sterling, in an audio recording of a telephone conversation with his girlfriend, tells her not to publicly show her connection with African-Americans or not to bring such people to matches, reported “Reuters”.
NBA suspends Sterling for life and fined him with 2.5 million dollars for racist comments that caused an avalanche of reactions from players, fans, sponsors, and even the US President Barack Obama.
