Brussels is taking a break – Next progress report will be in 2018

-

Tomorrow the European Commission will publish their report on EU enlargement and the progress report on the Western Balkans, but the next report, instead of next year, will be published as late as 2018, according to “Meta” sources from Brussels.

Unofficially, within the European Commission there is a sense of weariness surrounding the reports, especially considering that they do not have much influence in certain countries, but also because there will be no further enlargement of the Union any time soon.

The acknowledgment of these claims is unfortunate as the selected date of the publication of the progress report on the Western Balkans, coincides with the results of the US presidential election.
