“Parliament is a core institution in any democracy”, said for “Meta” the British Ambassador to Macedonia, after the SDSM made the decision to freeze its participation in Parliament until the Constitutional Court rules on the constitutionality of the Special Prosecutor’s Office.
“We hope that all Parliamentarians will fulfill their democratic role, using their position and influence to enhance the rule of law in Macedonia”, reads the reaction from the British Embassy.
Regarding the most recent criticism on the SPO’s work, from President Gjorgi Ivanov, the embassy wants to remind everyone how important the SPO is, in finding a solution to the political crisis.
“The work of the Special Prosecutor’s Office is an essential part of the Przino Agreement and is fundamental to a sustainable resolution of the political crisis. It was agreed by all four party leaders who signed Przino and received full backing in Parliament. All sides should continue to give it their full support and refrain from actions which undermine its work”, stated the British Embassy.
