The British Embassy in Macedonia demanded an explanation from President Ivanov regarding his decision to suspend the trials that are being conducted against politicians.
“The President’s statement this afternoon needs clarification. If the decision to pardon politicians extends to investigations of the allegations contained in the wiretap recordings, then that would be a matter of considerable concern. Full investigation of those allegations, and any due legal process, are essential elements of the Przino agreement. As such they are central to any sustainable resolution of the current political crisis”, reads the statement by the British Embassy.
Today, Ivanov in his address to the nation, which was not transmitted on state television, explained that the he made the decision alone, and that reason for this, is the fact that the Przino Agreement failed to resolve the political crisis in the country.
