-

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov confirmed support for Macedonia in its Euro-Atlantic integration. Answering a question of former Foreign Minister Kristijan Vegenin, Borisov said that the policy of the Bulgarian Government towards Macedonia remains unchanged.

– We expressed willingness to participate in discussions and to offer expert help for specific things related to our experience of the process of integration into the EU and the NATO membership – said Borisov in front of the Bulgarian Parliament.

He emphasized that Bulgaria clearly stated that expects Macedonia to fully meet the criteria for EU membership, including good neighborly relations.

Borisov said that Bulgaria will continue to insist to sign neighborliness and cooperation agreement, adding that it is a top priority of his Government. He noted that the agreement won’t be an additional requirement for Macedonia, but that it would make the political agreement legally binding.

Bulgarian Prime Minister assessed that the Euro-integration of the countries from the region will help in the promotion of peace and stability in Southeastern Europe, adding that the Bulgarian Government will continue to defend the interests of the Bulgarian community in Macedonia.
