Borisov said it all, apart from the term “Macedonian language”

-

At today’s press conference, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov with his Macedonian counterpart, Zoran Zaev, while answering questions from reporters on which language the agreement on good neighborly relations will be signed in, he replied that the agreement will be “in the language that is stated in the Constitution” of Macedonia.

“The details, in fact, are important, but not for today, for the next generation. At the same time, we as a state, were the first to recognize Macedonia. The Constitution of Macedonia states what language is spoken in the country. According to the agreement, it should be signed in the language that is stated in the Constitution, otherwise you will violate the Constitution”, said the Bulgarian prime minister, according to the Bulgarian agency “Fokus”.

Until the signing of the agreement, however, Borisov says, he will come as soon as the foreign ministers of the two countries reach the latest version and then a decision will be made.

“I’m a very well-intentioned person and I really love your people. We have no other closer people to our own. When historians propose terms to close this agreement, it will be a huge success and a step forward. We will give a good example in the Balkans and open the way for Macedonia’s path towards NATO and the EU. That is why we want to do it. If we only take our nationalistic feelings, nothing good awaits us”, Borisov said.
