“Bomb” slows down Internet, brings 25 cameras and live “tweets”

-

Social network Twitter was the fastest medium through which the details from the press conference of SDSM leader Zoran Zaev were presented. Several users of Twitter, including journalists, “tweeted” during the press conference live under the hashtag #бомба (bomb).

Most of the web portals were blocked while the press conference lasted, and Internet in the country during the press was noticeably slower.

SDSM unofficially say they could not stream the press conference because the Internet was unstable.

Apart from the live “tweeting”, Zaev’s press conference was “historic event” due to the fact that there were journalists from almost all media in Macedonia, and were noticed 25 cameras that recorded SDSM leader while he revealed part of the “bomb”.

Live “tweeting” of journalists was observed in the trial of Oscar Pistorius. Judge Dezdmond Nair prohibit recording and photographing while the trial lasted, so journalists decided to report on the event through Twitter. The group of journalists received overwhelming attendance on Twitter and the number of their followers on that social network increased. They published details of the trial, which attracted a huge audience and an opportunity to develop real-time discussions. With the “tweeting” during the trial of Pistorius, BBC journalist Andrew Harding got 80,000 new followers on Twitter.
