Movement “Besa” is appalled and concerned about yesterday’s announcement of conversations between Interior Minister Gordana Jankuloska and director of UBK Sasho Mijalkov.
“In the dialog regarding case “Sopot”, it is clearly shown why they are sentenced to more than ten years and are rotting in Macedonian prisons. Besides racist labeling as “Sqhiptars,” she explicitly says that prisoners for case “Sopot” are not in jail because they were guilty of a crime, but only because it was so agreed by the two state officials who control the judiciary. Even worse is that they are innocent, but remain in jail due to political bargaining of coalition partners. This information is very worrying and upsetting for any normal person in the country, but for all foreign observers as well, because a grave violation of human rights was allowed,” reads the reaction.
“Besa” strongly reacts, emphasizing that human dignity in Macedonia has no value, there is no justice and that the life of Albanians in this country depends only on political bargaining. The statement also reads such talks raise a suspicion of other processes that are run against them, as, for example, case “Monster”, in which six Albanians were sentenced to life.
“Judging by this information, it also means that the truth about these young Albanians will come to light after a few years rotting in prison, but then it will be too late,” reacts “Besa”.
Movement calls on the international community to urgently help and create an independent commission for the prosecution and the judiciary, which will consider other cases as well, and the defendants in the case “Sopot” to be declared innocent, to be released and to be compensated.
