The people of Bitola will start protesting again against the polluted air. After several weeks of enormous pollution, the organization “It’s About Us” has called upon for a blockade of the road that leads from Bitola to REK Bitola with a slogan “Bitola is suffocating, Bitola is dying,”
The blockades are announced to start from Thursday to Saturday, between 15 and 17h. when the people from Bitola, and especially the employees at REK, will be returning from the first shift and when the second shift will go to work. The people of Bitola have submitted several requests to authorities and are threatening if they aren’t fulfilled, there will be a complete blockade of REK Bitola.
They are demanding subventions for the use of electricity and gasification, including a special regime of traffic within the center of the city.
Members of the organization have said that the ultimatum has been issued to the municipality and the Government,and they are distancing themselves from any kind of political connotation connected to the early parliamentary elections.
-We aren’t interested in politics or a campaign. Our priority is people’s health. The municipality of Bitola is authorized to use one of the measures and the Government is authorized to use the other– said for Meta, Ilija Baltovski a member of “It’s About Us”.
