Judge Basheska: If Zaev fails to appear in court on December the 2nd, he will be detained by guards

-

Today’s hearing in the “Putsch” case has been postponed again because the SDSM leader Zoran Zaev was absent from the courtroom, again. Filip Medarski, Zoran Zaev’s defence lawyer said that the SDSM leader was due to travel abroad for international activity, and as evidence he brought to the courtroom a copy of the airline ticket.

Judge Ljubinka Basheska responded to Zaev’s absence from court and said if he did not appear again at the next hearing she would issue an order to have him detained by guards.

“I have tolerated him more than I should and I do not like this situation. Zaev is really persistent and for at the next hearing I will issue an order to have him in detained by the guards”, said Judge Basheska and she entered it into the courts records at today’s hearing.

Mr Medarski said there was no need for such action, saying Zaev will appear in court when the jurisdiction of the case “Putsch” will be taken over by the Special Prosecutor’s Office.

At the beginning of today’s hearing, the defendant Zoran Verushevski reacted to the court regarding photographs of food packages which were sent to him from his family but were seized by officials of the prison “Skopje”. He believes it was because in the photos was the opposition leader Zoran Zaev.

The next hearing has been scheduled for December the 2nd at 10 o’clock.
