Balkan political elite and Donald Tusk at the Brdo-Brijuni Summit in Skopje

President of the European Council Donald Tusk, seven presidents and one prime minister will be guests of President Gjorge Ivanov, who is hosting the Summit of Heads of State in the Brdo-Brijuni Process, to be held this afternoon and tonight at the Alexander Palace Hotel in Skopje.

The official attendance at the summit was confirmed by the presidents of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, who arrived in Skopje yesterday, the President of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, and his colleagues from Serbia, Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo – Aleksandar Vučić , Filip Vujanović , Ilir Meta , Hashim Thaci, and the chairman of the Bosnia and Herzegovina presidency, Bakir Izetbegović .

A special guest at the meeting, besides Tusk, is Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
The President of the European Council, Tusk, will meet with the Prime Minister Zoran Zaev in Government this afternoon.

Due to foreign statesmen, the security situation in Skopje is at its highest, there are helicopter flights, special traffic regime of several boulevards and strong police controls.

The main goal of the Brdo-Brijuni Process is the European integration of the countries of the region and the stabilization of the situation in the Western Balkans through strengthening regional cooperation and solving open issues.

The focus of this year’s meeting of the leaders of the participating countries is the need to improve the inter-relatedness in political, economic, infrastructural and security terms, and in the context of the new EU strategy for the Western Balkans.
