The report showed that monitoring in the initial 10 days from the announcement of the elections, the issue that enjoyed the majority of reporting was that concerning ” the actions and attitudes of the four largest political parties, the views of the international community, and those of the President, the political crisis and the civil protests” the reports goes on to state that the broadcasters portrayed a “different attitude to professional standards in the principles of some programs about events and activities”.

“The television services of the Public Broadcaster aimed to respect principles and standards in its programs according to their own rules, to cover the elections, with a few exceptions. Five television services, whose programs have not respected the principles of Article 61 of the Law concerning Audio and Audio-Visual Media Services, especially those principles that require the unbiased and objective presentations of events, with equal treatment of diverse viewpoints and opinions, so enabling the viewing public to freely form their own opinions on specific events and questions (item 9). On “Alfa TV”, “Kanal 5”, “Kanal plus” and “TV Sitel” noted were articles related to the political crisis and activities of some state bodies, the promoting of the electoral agenda of the VMRO-DPMNE, whose method of reporting are the same or have a very similar method of reporting, the working out or emphasizing of the same statements (their own or those taken from domestic and foreign media experts, representatives of various parties) and even go as far as to use the same (domestic or foreign) photographic images as illustrations, and so suggesting some compliance in their editorial policies” the report stated.

In these televisions, the report said, “there is a tendency that, if they continue in the same direction, it will result in the media’s presentation of certain parties in the Government”.

“These are articles whose actions promote measures to promote the agriculture electoral program of the VMRO-DPMNE and are presented as state policy in this sphere, as well as articles on the activities of state authorities at a central and local level that are created to attract media coverage, ” states the report of the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services.
