Associated Press: Shock-bombs and injured migrants at the Macedonian-Greek border zone

At least eight people were injured after special police forces used shock-bombs and tear-gas to subdue an unruly crowd of several thousand migrants who are stuck between the borders of Greece and Macedonia, reports the news agency Associated Press, citing information obtained from the Greek police.

Foreign agencies are reporting that the crowd of about 3000 people who spent the night under open sky, have made several attempts to penetrate the police cordon. Among the injured is a child who suffered shock-bomb shrapnel wounds. The bomb was fired directly into the crowd.

The Ministry of Interior doesn’t confirm nor deny the information of the use of tear-gas and shock-bombs in dealing with the crowd of migrants. The ministry has not yet commented on the reports of injured migrants.

Ivo Kotevski, deputy minister of public relations told Meta that they are dealing with a large influx of migrants who are trying to cross over from Greece. The number of migrants that stuck in the border zone between Greece and Macedonia cannot be concluded.

-The police force located around the border uses all legal means to prevent illegal entry of foreign nationals on the territory of Macedonia- commented Kotevski.

The Macedonian government proclaimed an emergency situation and prevents migrants from crossing the southern border.
