From a total of 194 million euro grant for infrastructure in the Western Balkans, Macedonia received 70 million euros at the Summit in Trieste for the completion of the railway track from Beljakovce to Kriva Palanka, reported today Vice President for Economic Affairs, Kocho Angjushev. He added that this irrevocable funding is enough to cover 46% from the total amount needed to build the second section of the railroad to Bulgaria.
“The Government’s reformatory spirit was recognized, to practically implement all procedures and the necessary steps for faster and easier accession to the European Union, and its funds”, said Angjushev.
While responding to a journalist’s question, Angjueshev said that the railroad will be built continuously and the third section will be built, once the second section is finished.
He also emphasized that contacts had been made at the World Bank, who were not satisfied by the fact that in the past two-three years, not one new contract for the construction of infrastructure in Macedonia had been concluded, and those which were made, were never finalized.
The funds which the World Bank are offering, are mostly for highway networks. Budget support was also discussed, which according to Angjushev, will end up in the hands of Macedonian companies.
